Heidelberg Catechism

The Heidelberg Catechism has been the teaching tool of Reformed Christians since 1563. Written as a way of bringing peace to Lutheran and Reformed Christians in the Palatinate region of German. It seeks to take a "middle ground" in its interpretation of Christianity, rather than an extreme view often found in other Catechisms. The spirit is irenic, flowing from its purpose to unite rather than divide Christians. It has three sections dealing with guilt (or sin) grace (or salvation) and gratitude (or service). In the coming months, various questions and answers will be added here, along with some interpretive material. We invite your responses to this time-honored work, which seems as fresh today as it was 300+ years ago.
